We begin with Andrew Strauss, the English captain and left handed opener, who has had success with both bat and captaincy.
Strauss is clearly vulnerable against left arm fast bowlers bowling full and around the
off stump line. He has been dismissed by left arm fast bowlers 11 times out of
the last 23 innings he has been dismissed in. Out of these 11 times, he has been caught behind by the keeper or in the
slips driving 7 times.

In Asia, Strauss has played only 14
innings and has been dismissed by spinners 5 times and 8 times by fast bowlers.
This shows Strauss's strength against spinners and weakness fast bowlers when
they bowl close to the off stump line.

HOW TO GET HIM OUT:
Plan A: Play Junaid Khan or Wahab Riaz - Left arm fast bowlers and bowl full
and close to his off stump. Make Strauss drive. Don't pitch the ball too short
because Strauss is strong on the back foot and would cut the ball for four
through off.
Plan B: Make Gul and Aizaz - Right Arm Fast bowlers - bowl just short of the
driving length around the middle and off stump. Gul can try to bring the ball
back into Strauss to get LBW (but there is a small margin of error because
Strauss can whip him for four through the leg side if he bowls on the pads).
Aizaz can pitch around off and move the ball away from Strauss to get him to
edge it to slips or keeper who would catch the ball
(hopefully/InshaAllah).
Plan C: Ajmal and Rahman bowl full and make Strauss sweep. He fell sweeping the
ball twice off Harbhajan and Mishra in England in 2011 summer.
We will now move onto the ICC Test Cricketer of the Year 2011, Alistair Cook, in the next blog. Feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments below.
